Vote for Jim Dixon on May 10th 2012

The Watertown Republican Town Committee wishes to congratulate all 4 Democrats that ran for their party’s nominations in the Special Election Primary to fill the vacancy left by Peter Koutoujian in 10th Middlesex District. Of course we are especially proud of John Lawn, a Watertown resident for winning his party’s primary. Now we look forward to vigorous debate of the issue over the next few weeks, as our Candidate Jim Dixon will face John Lawn in the general election on May 10th.

This election is not about personalities. Both men are honorable, honest, family men who run with the best of intentions. The election is about whether or not we will continue to be a one party state. For decades politicians who think one way and one way only have dominated Beacon Hill. The same old solutions of increased taxation, and regulation have lead to a migration of people, business, money and ideas out of the Commonwealth. Every time there is a deficit, they immediately think tax hike. The notion that instead of raising taxes we ought find more tax payers never crosses their mind. Because raising taxes is simply the groupthink that permeates our State House.

And when the Democrats finally do get around to considering of a tax cut, it always comes with strings attached. That is because they think it’s the government’s money, not yours and mine. So in order to get a tax credit or cut, they make us jump through rings. So when the tax credit is over, the temporary simulative effect to the economy is gone.

Jim Dixon’s solution is different. Let’s get the government of people’s back. Let’s make Massachusetts the kind place where businesses, large and small, want to come and do business. We don’t need to pit Americans against each other. We don’t need to pit small businesses against big business, Main St against Wall St. And we certainly don’t need to engage in class warfare by suggesting Massachusetts should have a graduated income tax. Massachusetts’s taxpayers didn’t create the fiscal mess we are in. We don’t need to divide and conquer taxpayers, as Democrats always find a way to do. The fiscal mess we are in was caused by an out of control wasteful State Government, which has become more concerned with perpetuating its own existence then providing services to people of the state.

We have serious problems in Massachusetts. Both John Lawn and Jim Dixon know that and want to do something about. But there is a difference in what they would do. So the voters of the 10th Middlesex District have to decide, do they want to continue to look to same old tired answers of “increasing revenues” by increasing the tax and fee burden? Or do they want to follow a reform policy, which will cut the size of an excessive government?

On May 10th the voters in Watertown’s precinct 10 get one last shot at Reforming Beacon Hill this year. The Watertown Republican Town Committee urges you to vote for Jim Dixon for State Representative.

After all, It makes good "business sense" for him to contribute to politicians that represent districts where he is doing business or is considering business ventures. That would explain the contributions below.

His businessman's mentality can be an asset, but it also has its draw backs. Some things need to be based on principles, not back-room deals and contributions.

Can we trust his new-found positions on same-sex marriage and abortion? He's told us he's pro-life, but he won't tell us if he would make abortion illegal. He told O'Reilly: "I'll get back to you, you let me think about it." Respecting Gay marriage, he told O'Reilly --- "It just doesn't feel right." So he has not reasoned out his positions. He feels things; he doesn't think through. That's what Liberals do. Which is why they die with their brains in unused mint condition.

So The Donald lives in world where there appear to be no moral absolutes. He may sound like a straight talking populist, but he's just he's looking to me more and more like a Wall St. con-man. He says the right things, he's yet to prove he has the moral compass to back them up.

Now matter how you feel about Iraq or Afghanistan, you have to admit Bush went to Congress and got an authorization to use force.  Presidents have acted before without such authorization under the War Powers Act. But in those cases we must be acting to protect American interest that are in imminent danger or responding to an attack on American interest.  On Monday evening the President never once made the case that our military action was to protect American interest or in retaliation to an attack upon them. He only mentioned that our mission was humanitarian. This mission may be noble. And I may even agree with it, but by his own words as a candidate and a Senator, the President has no authority to order such military action without consulting Congress. 

Three weeks ago the President said that Qaddafi had to go. At the point the rebels had him on the ropes. And if the mission were to remove him, capture or kill him in retaliation for the bombing of the Pan American flight in the 1980's then he would have had legal justification under the War Powers Act, to proceed prior to getting Congressional consent. In that circumstance time was of the essence to success of that mission and the reason for the mission fell under the War Powers Act. 

But this President doesn't care much for American law or the American Constitution. He's worried about the court of world public opinion.  He sees us as just another nation among others. We should have no more say or influence that Panama or Norway in matters involving military coalitions. He is allowing the coalition to define the mission instead of having a mission and then forming a coalition. The French, of all people have put us to shame. And good for them. It's about time. The last time they showed any back bone was under Napoleon Bonaparte. And that's only because he was really an Italian!! But thank God for for the French and the British. That's all we really needed. We didn't need the Arab league. They are here today maybe, gone tomorrow for sure, they haven't shown up yet.

Well, for two years I've been arguing with some zealous friends that wanted to impeach Obama. They all thought it would be a great idea, but not one of them could mention an impeachable offence.  Oh, they could come up with a million reasons why he shouldn't be re-elected and why he's a terrible President and why his policies are wrecking the country. But up until know they never had an impeachable offence. Now the do!

And it's not me that says so. It's the Vice President of the United States!   

 Barely 51% of his own party supports this military action. In fact he has more support among Republicans, except that we would have liked to have seen him act more decisively, earlier, with a clear mission and with the Congressional approval. But if things start going in south in Libya, this may be Hillary's best and last shot to resign and challenge him for the nomination. Clearly the phone rang more than once at 3:00 AM and Mr.. Obama was in Brazil.



Dixon Fundraiser

The Lexington Republican Town Committee is hosting a fund-raising event for Massachusetts state legislative candidate Jim Dixon on Thursday, March 31st at 12 Plainfield St. in Lexington. The suggested contribution will be $25. The event begins at 7:00 PM but Jim will be available at the location from 6:30 PM if there are any large donors who want a more private opportunity to meet with him. There will be light refreshments including wine and cheese.

Please help us to advertise this event. Let's make this a huge success for Jim and for Lexington. 

Special Election for 10 Middlesex District.

Just a reminder to folks that we have two ongoing races to settle for seats in the state legislature.
One, unfortunately should not be taking place, Peter Durant is having to win his seat twice in order to be seated. And that Special Election is getting most of the attention in this state, and perhaps rightly so. WE GOT ROBBED. And we should get behind Peter and help him and the people of his district.
But we also have a race in the 10th Middlesex and Jim Dixon is busting his tail. The local Town Committees and Tea Parties are doing their part and pitching in man power. People are knocking on doors, talking to voters, identifying good votes. Literature is being dropped, signs are going up,  visibilities are starting to happen, and phone banks are being planned. So my fellow Conservatives, Republicans, Tea Partiers, and Patriots, I'm going to do what I used to do every Sunday Morning when I was a minister: ASK FOR MONEY!   That is, I'm asking you to contribute to Jim's campaign so we can send, not 1-- but 2 more Republicans to Beacon Hill. Let's win both these races. Let's send both Peter Durant and Jim Dixon to Beacon Hill. In so doing we will regain the momentum we had as a state party  after Scott Brown and Massachusetts' voters shocked the Nations and the Liberal Democrat establishment.

Making Mt Auburn St. A Highway to Hell!

Well it looks like some of these geriatric flower children that have invaded Watertown won't be happy until there is a bicycle path the leads to every public transgender accessible rest room.  The latest proposal to bring automobile traffic to a grinding halt --- Mt. Auburn St. Watertown. That's Rt. 16, a State highway which is a major thoroughfare used by many commuters on route to the Mass Turnpike and Storrow Drive.

The traffic study and proposals, which cost $69,000, were phase 1 of what would be a three-phase project for the town. A full design for a reworked Mt. Auburn Street would cost about $400,000, according to Councilor Vincent Piccirilli.
But by including designing the street to encourage bicycle and pedestrian use, the town can apply for federal and state grants for the actual construction, which would cost $9 million. Getting funded through those grants can take years, according to Public Works Superintendent Gerry Mee, so the town should start the process now.

Now, if you read today's TAB, you'll read about possible elementary school closings and teacher layoffs.  If you drive down just about any Watertown Street,  you might actually think you were driving down Baghdad Blvd after a B52 strike. And yet the Granola Bar Brigade wants to waste $9 million dollars putting bicycle lanes and causing traffic jams on Mt. Auburn St.  And let's not forget the energy waste and pollution this is going to cause. 

Folks, they have already screwed up the traffic on Arsenal and North Beacon Streets in order to make room for their beloved bike baths. I'd be shocked to find out that more than a dozen bikes a day use either of those paths on a regular basis. When will this waste of money to keep these obsessive Neo-Pagan Fundamentalists end? If they want to practice their bizarre Environmental religion, that's fine with me, but let them stop imposing on the rest us. And let them spend their own money to worship their Orange Azaleas -- not the taxpayers'.
