Another State Perk: Free Tuition for Spouses

Do you wonder why Republicans all over the country want to do away with collective bargaining for government employees?  It's because they get unheard-of benefits:

BOSTON -- It's a little-known perk. The spouses of full-time state employees are entitled to free tuition at state-run colleges. Full-time state workers also get the benefit, but it is the perk for their spouses that is unlike most benefits provided for private sector workers. The decades-old law entitles full-time workers and their spouses to go to any of the state's universities or colleges tuition free, making it worth $1,714 to attend UMass Amherst each year, $1,454 at Bridgewater State University and $720 at Mass Bay Community College.
